Model Rocket Flight Computer

As part of IC SpaceSoc, we designed a PCB flight computer using an STM32 microcontroller, environment sensor, inertial measurement unit, GPS, buzzer and radio. The PCB was assembled using a stencil and reflow oven.

DSP Voice Synthesizer

As part of the 3rd year Real-Time Digital Signal Processing module, we created a voice synthesizer that could synthesize a message using Linear Predictive Coding (LPC). The hardware used was the TI D2837D LaunchPad and BOOSTXL_AUDIO boards.

FPGA Function Accelerator

As part of the 3rd Year Digital Systems Design module, we created a function accelerator using an Altera Cyclone V FPGA. This system was built around the NIOS II embedded processor with custom instructions to a hardware block that implemented floating point operations and the CORDIC algorithm.

Impedance Measurement Meter

As part of the 3rd year Instrumentation module, we created a complex impedance meter designed to measure devices with impedance of 10 to 1MOhm using stimulus frequency of 1 to 100kHz. The digital part of the device was based on the STM32 and the analog frontend was a custom PCB shield.
